QR, Barcode, NFC, and Identifier Lifecycle
Issue interoperable labels without treating the physical carrier as the asset identity.

Canonical identity
The database asset UUID is canonical. A QR symbol, Code 128 barcode, NFC UID, NDEF URI, GS1 key, or external tag is a carrier or alias that resolves to it. Never encode borrower, owner, cost, or other private data in a public label.
Lifecycle
- Select the declared scheme and version.
- Generate a unique value and human-readable checksum.
- Print or write the carrier.
- Scan/read it back and record verification.
- Lock NFC only when policy allows and verification succeeded.
- Replace, revoke, or destroy damaged/compromised tags without reusing their values.
The initial certified API issues and resolves QR, barcode, and NFC aliases. Signed NDEF, clone detection, reprint/destruction commands, UHF RFID portals, and GS1/EPCIS conformance are phase-gated until dedicated round-trip fixtures pass.
Standards profile
Use ISO/IEC 18004-compatible QR, ISO/IEC 15459 identity concepts, NFC Forum NDEF URI records, and—only with licensed/configured identifiers—GS1 GIAI/GRAI/SSCC/GLN and Digital Link. Never imply GS1 or ISO certification from format compatibility alone.
