Transit

Purpose

Transit tracks multi-item moves without collapsing the identity of their contents. New shipment starts with route and accountability facts; containers can be scanned in bulk but stay traceable at item level.

Dispatch and carrier handoff

Use Dispatch shipment only after the manifest, seal, destination, and accountable release are verified. The action records the signed-in operator and server time; it does not replace the separate carrier-custody record.

Use Carrier handoff when physical custody transfers. Scan or select the shipment, container, or seal; choose the authorized carrier by name; record its tracking reference and the handoff reason; then confirm the physical transfer. AMS stores immutable IDs and the actor server-side, while the shipment timeline stays append-only.

Repack and unpack containers

Use Repack container to scan the source and open destination containers, state the reason, and confirm that both belong to the same shipment and their contents were physically verified. AMS rejects ineligible container states and records each membership move in the immutable history.

Use Unpack container after receipt or when handling an exception. Scan the container, choose the authorized destination location by name, state the reason, and confirm physical verification. The command atomically removes container membership, places the contents, and updates the container state.

Return shipment to sender

Use Return to sender only for a verified received or exception shipment. Scan the shipment, container, or seal; record the return reference and new sealed return-container tag/type; state the reason; and confirm the contents are authorized for return. A second destructive confirmation is required because AMS atomically creates a new return shipment and sealed container while retaining the original-shipment history.

State interpretation

Packed means containment is confirmed. Dispatched means physical custody has left the source. Partially received means expected and actual quantities differ or receipt remains incomplete. Exception keeps the problem visible until an authorized resolution is recorded.

Use carrier, seal, tracking, handoff, receipt, condition, and discrepancy evidence appropriate to the movement risk.
