Count facts, not expectations
An audit compares the expected record with the property found. It can identify missing, unexpected, moved, damaged, or condition-changed items. The count does not erase the earlier location or quantity fact.
End-to-end operator runbook
- Open an audit. Define scope, cutoff, locations, and the accountable reviewer.
- Count independently. Scan or enter what is physically present; use blind or recount controls when required.
- Review variance. Separate a location issue, custody issue, count error, damage, or loss.
- Approve correction. Use required thresholds and a different approver where policy requires it.
- Close the audit pack. Retain the source count, explanation, approval, and compensating events.
